Students with High Academic Potential (SHIP)

St Pius X School has long recognised the very special gifts and talents of its students. The school has a dedicated program for students in Years 3 to 6 who have been identified as having high intellectual potential (SHIP).

The SHIP program is designed to challenge and inspire students that we believe will benefit from enrichment and extension of the classroom program. Through a focus on critical and creative thinking, students are challenged to think beyond the basic curriculum and examine ideas they may have never considered. 

The SHIP program gives an opportunity for students to work regularly, in small groups, to develop their thinking and knowledge. It also allows us to work on skills that can sometimes be elusive to SHIP students, including working in teams and building on the ideas of others.
